Woman told to stop breastfeeding in Urban Planet store receives apology

TORONTO, Ont. – YM Inc., the parent company of #Urban Planet, has apologized to a mom who was told to stop breastfeeding at their Dixie Outlet Mall store.

The woman was nursing her one-month-old son inside the discount #clothing chain, when she said a clerk asked her to stop and then phoned mall security.

YM said it is sorry for the incident, and the mother told the Toronto Star she’s glad her situation will bring awareness to the issue.

The Ontario Human Rights Commission says mothers who nurse in public cannot be asked to stop, or to go somewhere else.
